How heating mantles are used
A heating mantle cradles a round-bottom flask in a flexible heating element, so the flask is warmed evenly without an open flame. Chemistry laboratories use mantles for reflux, distillation and solvent extraction, which also keeps flammable solvents away from an open flame.
The stirrer models heat and mix the flask contents at the same time during a reaction. The Multi Position Heating Mantle heats three to six flasks side by side for parallel distillation, extraction or reflux runs.
